Michigan adopted an .08 BAC standard for drunk driving violation in 2003. A person that is under the influence of alcohol can be charged with impaired driving or drunk driving. Drunk drivers who got convicted will be subject to a fine of $1000 penalty for two years according to the driver responsibility program.

If you get convicted of drunk driving (DWI) for the first time in MI results may be up to 93 days in jail, up to a $500 fine, up to 360 hours of community service, up to 180 days with a suspended or revoked license, 6 points on a driver’s license, with a suspended license possible after thirty days.

Alcohol violations stay on your driving record for a minimum of ten years. As for car insurance premiums, they will typically be affected for at least three years after you have been convicted of a DUI/DWI.
